Terms of service

These terms govern your use of CV-AI (the “service”), operated by CakeStack. By accessing or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

These terms apply to everyone who uses CV-AI, whether you browse without signing in, hold a registered account, or pay for a subscription.

CV-AI analyses CVs using artificial intelligence and provides structured feedback, including scores, comparative rankings, and suggested improvements tailored to the role you specify.

All output is generated by a large language model. It is intended to help you refine your CV, not to predict or guarantee hiring outcomes. We are not an employer, recruiter, or career agency, and nothing in the service constitutes professional career advice.

Scores and percentile rankings are automated estimates derived from your CV content. They reflect patterns in the model's training data, not a human recruiter's judgement.

You need a registered account with a valid email address to upload a CV and receive an analysis. Keep your login details confidential and do not share your account with anyone else.

You must provide accurate account information and notify us if you suspect unauthorised access. You may not resell access to the service or use your account for automated or bulk submissions.

We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, misuse the service, or pose a security risk.

CV reviews are available to subscribers only. We offer monthly subscription plans with a set number of CV reviews per billing period. Current plan names, allowances, and subscription prices are listed on our Pricing page.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel beforehand. Fees are charged in advance and are non-refundable, except where required by applicable consumer protection law.

If you cancel, you keep access to the service — and any remaining CV reviews in your current allowance — until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. Unused reviews do not carry over to the next period and are not refunded.

Plan changes, proration, and billing adjustments follow Stripe's standard rules. You are responsible for any taxes, bank charges, or currency conversion fees applied by your payment provider.

When using CV-AI, you must not:

• Upload malicious files or attempt to disrupt, probe, or attack our systems
• Circumvent usage limits through bots, scripts, IP rotation, or creating multiple accounts
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or copy the service or its underlying models
• Submit content you do not have the right to share, including someone else's CV without their permission
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose

You retain ownership of the CVs, job descriptions, and other materials you upload. By submitting content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and analyse it solely to provide the service to you.

We do not use your uploads to train AI models. We share content with third-party processors only where necessary to run the service — for example, cloud hosting, authentication, payment processing, and AI analysis providers. See our Privacy policy for details.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any content you submit and for removing sensitive information you do not wish to include in an analysis.

CV-AI feedback is generated automatically and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your circumstances. It may overlook context a human reviewer would consider, or suggest changes that are not appropriate for your industry or role.

Treat all suggestions as a starting point for your own judgement, not as definitive guidance. We make no promise that using the service will lead to interviews, job offers, or any particular employment outcome.

We aim to keep CV-AI available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be unavailable during maintenance, upgrades, security incidents, or events outside our reasonable control.

We are not liable for loss or inconvenience caused by planned or unplanned downtime.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the service, including loss of opportunity, income, or employment prospects. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

You may stop using the service at any time. To prevent your subscription from renewing, select Cancel subscription on your account page before your next billing date. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period; you can reactivate before then if you change your mind.

It is your responsibility to cancel in time to avoid being charged for the next period. We do not refund unused CV reviews, including after cancellation or account closure.

We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you materially breach these terms. Where appropriate, we will give notice before doing so.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify registered users by email.

Your continued use of the service after the updated terms take effect means you accept the revised terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer protection rules in your country of residence require otherwise.
